Painting one wall a different color in a bedroom is known as accent wall. It is an easy (but very effective!) way to liven up the room and make the room appear different than it is real size. There are two theories of accent wall coloring, warm and cold color theory. If you want to have an accent wall in your bedroom, you may want to know what they are.
What do you think? Since painting is a cheap way to update a bedroom with noticeable impact, would you consider adding an accent wall in your bedroom?
Warm colors pull the wall towards the eye. This has the effect of making the room appear smaller than it really is. If you want this effect, make sure you choose a wall which can handle being foreshortened. A good example of this theory application is by painting an end wall of a long and narrow bedroom with warm color. This creates a balanced look for the room. Examples of warm colors include red, orange and yellow.
Contrary to warm color, cool colors pull the away toward the eye. Thus are making the room appear larger than it really is. If you have a small bedroom, it is a good idea to paint accent wall with cool color to make it appear larger. Another good idea is to use your ceiling as the accent wall. These will the ceiling higher than it really is.
